Verizon Family Locator Is A Must Have

3 Flares 3 Flares ×

Now I want to preface this post as saying that I have not used Verizon Family Locator yet. I don’t have a need for it with my kids only being 5 and 2 1/2. But when they are older, much older, and have phones then I will be getting this if it’s still around by then. Which I hope it is because it will be very useful!

The Family Locator contains these Family Friendly Features:

  • Family location – A detailed location, including the address, can be displayed on an interactive map and turn-by-turn driving directions to your family member’s location using the VZ Navigator application.
  • Arrival and departure updates – Provides updates when family members leave or arrive at defined locations like school or home.
  • Scheduled updates – Choose times you want to verify where a family member is.
  • Share locations – Share your location, family members’ or local points of interest by email, text message or post to Facebook.

The Verizon Family Locator isn’t just a GPS application – it’s a way to keep in touch and communicate with the family. Have your family members ever lost their cell phone? Use your Family Locator app to track the location of a missing mobile device. Is your child annoyed by always having to check-in? Find out when they’re home from school or at a friend’s house without a phone call.

Verizon Family Locator is now only $9.99 a month per household account, making family security more affordable than ever. For more information about the app, and to download the free 30-day trial, please visit: www.vzw.com/familylocator .

Is this a product that you can see your family using?

  1. While we are not on Verizon, I have to say this is a great concept and tool. We use a locating app all the time – whether it’s to see if my husband is stuck in traffic, if my husband wants to check if I’m okay at an event, and for when my daughter is with friends and we can’t reach her by phone. It’s a great way to make sure everyone is okay but has to be used carefully so as not to ‘spy’ on each other ;P

    • Yes that’s what I was kinda thinking that it may feel like spying a little bit. But if you can control yourself and only use it for good I doubt their will be a problem with that!

    • This Verizon locator service might be good for couples to communicate with each other. Google latitude will do this for free.

Teens get an option to deny locating each time a parent tries to use the system.

In my house, we had an argument about denying the ping, and now the phone is simply left when she wants her location to be unknown to me.

It is not a good service for teens unless they don’t know it is on their phone working.

  2. Love it! My husband and I use it. It’s the best. Verizon’s Family Locator is the only one that has the geofence alerts. I travel quite a bit and I have home, airports, train stations and hotels all geofenced so that my husband and son know when mommy has arrived at her destination and when she is on her way home again, because texting while hauling bags around is not always the easiest thing! Makes life so much simpler. It’s also great for me to get an alert that lets me know my son has been picked up from school and when he made it home safely…even when I’m a thousand miles away.

    • Thanks for sharing that you love it! It does sound super handy in your situation! That way your family knows your safe and sound, and you know your child is too!

  3. Darn, that sounds cool. I wish AT&T had that feature.

  4. I love this! I NEED this as a mom!
