I received this awesome comment on my Funny Pet Halloween Costumes post. It made me start thinking though. So let’s just read the comment first so we will understand where I am going with this post.
You people disgust me. If animals were supposed to wear clothes then God would have given them clothes. Or at least the brains to make their own. Sure, you might think it’s “cute” or “adorable”, but you’re not looking at it from the animal’s perspective. Those poor things are probably thinking up ways to murder you in your sleep. You’d deserve it for humiliating them to such an extent.
It got me thinking though. Because we dress up our babies and little kids in Halloween Costumes as well. They do have a brain, and God did make them able to wear clothing… but they can’t pick out what to wear because they aren’t really talking all that much right? So are they planning on murdering us in our sleep as well? I’m really scared right now! But I went on the hunt to find some funny Baby Costumes so that you will know NOT what to dress your baby in. Unless you want to be murdered that is.
1. Cheerios!

2. Chicken Baby with a side of OMG WHAT IS THAT?

3. Chippendale Baby
4. Gallagher

5. Taco Bell Baby

6. KFC
7. Mr. Trump – Your’re Fired!
8. Mrs. Palin or is that Tina Fey as a baby?
Now you have a list of costumes that you should not dress your child. I want all my readers to stay a live and not be murdered in there sleep! Heed my warning!

OMG did you ask the parents before putting their babies’ faces on your blog? Where did you get these pictures? I’d be so mad if I found my daughter’s photo on a post from someone I didn’t know.
Well they were already online. So yeah. And some of them already put them on websites themselves. So yeah.
I also want to point out that I’m being very sarcastic in this post. If you didn’t catch that.
Being sarcastic is totally cool. But stealing pictures of someone else’s kids? That is not cool. So what if they were already online? And just cause everyone else is doing it, does that make it right? Lots of people do wrong things, that doesn’t make the wrong “ok” to do.
I’m sorry Alison, I respect you, this just shocked me. It is one thing to use stock photos that are online, it another thing entirely to take photos of someone else’s children and use them to make money. I wouldn’t be upset if you had permission from their parents.
That’s nice. If the people are offended by me having the pictures up and I asked me to take them down I would. I don’t know the parents and there was no image source for them where I found them at so I couldn’t contact them myself.
If you had such a problem with it you could have contact me personally instead of going Rambo on my post. But to each their own.
I’m going to play devils advocate here and say stock photos are no more fair game than any other photos being used without permission. I’d say it’s almost worse. Someone paid money to have the photo taken, edited, and probably copyrighted. People use those all the time like its not big deal. Without any thought to it.
I’m sure had these been stock photos with someone else’s baby, it would be no big deal…because no one cares about the company that paid the parents/baby to model, the photographer, and all others involved in getting that picture online for people to rape from their website and use at their leisure.
That being said, if the pictures are already posted on other websites, they are fair game. I’m not talking from someone’s private online album, or their facebook page. But other public blogs, and various websites? If you’re putting it out there to be used, people are going to use it. *shrug*
And that is why I don’t [usually] publicly post pictures of my children.
They weren’t even personal blogs either. It’s not like I stalked for Halloween posts from bloggers of their own children.
Thanks for your comment Michelle.
Post a pic online and its fair game. A blogger posting it is called hot linking if she didn’t download it and host it herself it’s not infringing on anything. Personally I think the parents would think its hysterical that they were on this list. I love The Donald.
Hotlinking (posting an image from another domain without hosting it yourself) is worse than saving the picture and putting it on your own website. By hotlinking, you are using up the source’s bandwidth and server costs without reciprocally sending traffic to their site.
Wow Annie. I’m really kind of shocked by your responses here. Even moreso, I’m shocked by the fact that you went to the owner of the photo to “tattle”. I expected a little bit more from you. As Alison and others have said, if something is on the Internet, and not copyrighted, it’s fair game. That’s the chance you take with posting photos of your kids. If you don’t want someone taking a photo of your child, put it in a private album, watermark it, or actually copyright it.
People do posts like this with photos all the time. I see them on StumbleUpon frequently. If you’re that concerned, make sure your pictures are watermarked, or better yet, don’t put pics of your kids online.
My twins were lawn gnomes last year & a couple people said they’d hate those pics when they grew up. I think they were adorable though.
Oooh I bet they were so cute! Maybe I’ll dress Landon up as one this year. I’m all for pictures in the future that they may hate in the future. Good pics to show future girlfriends.
What a mean woman. I dress my doggies almost every day and they HELP me dress them, just like little kids do. They lift their little “arms” when I put their shirts on and tuck their little heads into the neck openings, so what the heck does she know? I have six doggies, does she have any?
Anyhoo…. I LOVE the Cheerios costume with the cereal stuck to the baby’s head, too funny. My other favorite is the Donald Trump, he looks just like him… I’m not so sure about the Chippendale one, a little over the top for my taste. Oh, yeah, the taco is adorable.
Wait til this Halloween when ALL six of mine are dressed up again. =)
LOVE this post… stumbled & tweeted!
It was a man actually. LOL. I think some pets may LOVE to be clothed. And sometimes isn’t it good for small breeds to have a sweater in the winter to help regulate their temperature?
My husband would love to have a Donald Trump baby! He loves that man. Me not so much but he is funny in a not so funny way. Landon would be cute as Cheerios, he loves them hahaha.
I hope you put a picture up of your doggies for Halloween on your blog! I want to see them!
OH, so it’s a woman/mommy-blog hater (TeeHee) that made that comment. He has no sense of style, then, we can just ignore him.
You know I’ll put photos of my Halloween doggies on my blog – I’m sure it will be either it’s own post or a WW post.
Have a great weekend.
HUGGLES!
Men! Right? Hahaha. I’ll be on the lookout for the picture.
You have a great weekend too!
Halloween costumes on babies are totally cute. Except that chicken one. It totally freaks me out. Lol.
That one totally took me by surprise. I was like oooh how cute. OMG! LOL It is freaky.
They’re going to be so mad at their parents one day!
At least they can get their parents to pay for therapy down the line haha.
The Chippendales baby reminds me of the horror I saw on Toddlers & Tiaras last night. A little girl dressed as Julia Robert’s in Pretty Woman. The hooker outfit. You know, the white and blue hooker dress with black leather boots up to the crotch and the skanky blonde wig? On a toddler. Yeesh.
The Trump one is hilarious.
I’m sure if they do think murderous thoughts, it for a number of other things, not the funny/cute Halloween costume I put them in.
Though the chicken baby with the alien coming out does look like she’s about to have a panic attack.
I’m gonna have to put OnDemand on and watch Toddlers and Tiaras. Can’t believe they put her in that outfit for a pageant! Crazy!
I so want a Trump Baby now I did that actually with Landon when he had long hair, now I wish I took pictures.
Those pictures are absolutely adorable! Love Halloween!
I love Halloween too! One of my fav Holidays!
OMG that’s so funny! I’ve seen some pretty great ones too. Love the cherrios, how cute is that!
It’s super adorable! Now I’m craving some.
You have to admit, the Baby Gallagher isn’t that bad, I actually thought it was cute.
Don’t understand the chicken one and the Chippendale Baby is wrong on so many levels.
Yes that one is adorable!!
They are all pretty creative… some disturbing lol.
These are great! Sorry about all the harsh comments when you’re just trying to have a little fun!
Thanks for the kind comment! Seeing how most of the comments are nice I’m letting the harsh roll off my back.
Yeah, swiping photos from other websites and using them on your blog without permission is copyright infringement. Just because they are posted on a website, that doesn’t mean they are public domain. Next time, try creative commons photos on Flickr- those ARE meant for public use.
I know and I did look there, None there that would have been good. Thanks!
I’m the mother of the Gallagher baby — I don’t mind that the picture is up since I did post it on a public blog. I’m all about fair use and so I feel that what I post is kind of fair game as long as the original credit is preserved. Here’s a link to my original post: http://nested.typepad.com/blog/2008/10/the-saddest-andor-greatest-costume-ever.html
Hi Mena! If I knew how to get in touch with you I would have contacted you. And if you had asked to take it down, I would have taken it down! I had actually gotten your picture from an entirely different blog. But I’m going to give you credit in this post linking to your original post! Love that Watermelon costume as well! What a cute idea.
OMG I love that Cheerios costume! I think it’s hilarious that the Cheerieos are stuck on that baby’s head lol
I know isn’t that the cutest??? Damn I need to have another kid so that I can do something creative. Landon will be 2 and if I tried that he would eat the Cheerios off his head.
Haha I’m so lame I had to google Gallagher to see who he was! I can see the resemblence now. I’m liking the Trump costume. The Cheerios one is pretty cute too.
Google is my friend a lot of the time! Which reminds me I need to find something out.. which I forgot what. Glad you enjoyed them!
OK, some of those are just SO wrong! HAHAHAHA!!! Like the chicken one. GROSS! Or the Chip and Dales one. Seriously? What are some parents thinking? HAHAHA!!!
Laura! Someone saw this post and sent me a link on FB. Now that pictures is tame to some of the ones on here. I was shocked. I may make a post out of.
Omg, these photos are sooo funny!
I actually know one of the parents who was a little surprised to find a picture of her little girl here. As you may or may not know, watermarked or not, photography and other creative works ARE copyrighted simply by virtue of their creation . In this case, the photo was originally posted only in a private online album, but somehow got out onto the internet (perhaps one of the people invited to view the album stole it and reposted it). That being said, stealing other’s creative works without permission, then profiting off of it (advertising $) is quite illegal. Just because you found it online, and have no idea how to contact the copyright holder does not make it ok.
Some mothers may find it cute that their kids are famous, but some are more interested in sheltering their babies from the online world.
That being said, this kid’s mom is PISSED this photo got out (she is very into protecting her kids from the online world), and you can expect to hear from her lawyer soon both for a takedown notice as well as a pending lawsuit.
Just FYI.
That’s nice Bobo. A simple cease and desist letter is all that is needed to take the picture down, heck even a simple email. She can’t be that mad as to not email me to take it down, I would if I was that pissed off. As I have stated if someone has a problem with it then I will take it down. I hope she is also going after whomever leaked the picture since I wasn’t involved in the private album.
Thanks and have a wonderful day! can’t wait to hear from her lawyer.
You know I can understand posting a picture of your kids online in a private album and having it leaked and then being upset. But at the same time don’t we all know that if you post anything online there really is no such thing as private. Wise up people, if you don’t want pictures you took to be used online without your knowledge then don’t post them. Plain and simple.
As far as someone being pissed her picture ended up on this blog. Why isn’t she the one speaking out. A simple comment or email to the blog owner saying hey that picture is mine will you please take it down would solve the problem.
But sending their ‘friends’ to threaten the blog owner is really just childish.
I honestly can’t tell why stumbleupon sent me here. The pictures were pretty funny, to be sure. But all the comments of the sanctity of a picture being posted in a public domain? Priceless.
