My Do Good Day with #77Kids

77 Kids Do Good Day

Last Wednesday I took part in Do Good Day with some fellow bloggers in Danbury, CT. We met up at the Candlewood Park, where a lot of us actually got lost finding it. I swear that place does not show up on mapquest, and non of us were locals! But we all found our way together at the Yum Mobile! They were setting up and were playing some cool toons for us. Hunter was so sad when Jason, one of the workers at the Yum Mobile was blowing up a blue 7 balloon and it blew away. He kept on saying he could see it but that balloon was long gone. But too cute!

After we got all of our gear together we headed to the Danbury Mall to hand out our 77 dollar bills and coupons for the 77kids store, that is having their grand opening in Danbury, CT on Saturday July 24th. Do you know how hard it was to get people to take money? The looks I got from people, they must have thought I was crazy. Even the guys at Dunkin’ Donuts would not take my dollar bills! There were other people there that thought what we were doing was great! So I appreciate the people that told me this was cool, and didn’t give me funny looks. You people rock!

Kelsey from The Naptime Chef went to Target to buy a whole lot of kids toys and school supplies to hand out as well. We just took over a small table by the Children’s Area and Carousel in the Food Court and just dumped out the toys! It was a hit! The kids loved picking out what they wanted, and it was nice for the parents because they didn’t have to buy anything.

77Kids Do Good Day at the Mall

I had a great time doing my part of Do Good Day. Actually we had a ton of toys and supplies left over, but I’m donating them to my husband and his students this fall. He can always use more rulers, pencils and some of the other stuff. He teaches Science and his budget isn’t always that great. So he was esastic that I had some stuff for his students as well! Whatever he does not need for his classroom I’m going to do some research and donate it. Maybe to another school classroom since I also know some teachers and the lower grade levels. This district is huge! 2 Highschools, 5 Elementary and 3-4 Middle Schools. Insane!

Also I had a lot of money left over from the $77 I had to hand out. I’m going to find someplace to donate that money as well. I’m thinking of the animal shelter or maybe one of the churches that help out the homeless. There is a lot of need in Newburgh, NY. So I’m sure it will be very muchly appreciated.

FYI: There were other pictures taken at the event but not on my computer. I have been waiting for anyone to send me copies but it has not happened yet and I wanted to get my post up before the day becomes a distant memory!

Disclaimer: I was compensated by The Motherhood as well as 77Kids for taking part in Do Good Day!
