Oh boy! They surely don’t make things like they used too. Our last computer was bought in Dec 07 I believe… and it was dying just recently. It was just randomly shutting down, wouldn’t start up, and was getting a weird error. Then it started shutting down more frequently, and I made the decision to get a new tower, before the other one completely died with all of our pictures and my husbands documents he has as a teacher. Plus well I really love new technology and having a fast computer again!
I went searching online for the perfect computer, and saw that Alienware was very cheap now. I remember drooling over them 10 years ago and they were super expensive then. Now they are relativity cheap. I’m a gamer, so I wanted a gaming computer. But gaming computers are the best, so I knew it would be a great fast computer for what I have to do while blogging as well.
So I went to Best Buy to see what their selection was. Lots of cheaper towers, which I didn’t want. They did have one Alienware left, and I picked that bad boy up! I was so excited! Got home and started getting it all set up and the transfer going. I used a cord from Belkin to transfer the files I wanted from one tower to the other. Simple process.
But when I took the Alienware out of the box, I couldn’t believe how small it was! It’s pretty much the same size as my Xbox 360. I took pictures of the old tower and the new one next to each other and you can for sure tell the difference. Now with the Alienware up on top of the desk it feels so bare up there since it doesn’t take up as much space.
The main difference, other then being very speedy, is how QUIET it is. Really. The old HP tower had 4 fans, (One had to be replaced right out of the box when we first got it because it was broken) and was very very very loud. I didn’t realize how loud it was until now, all I hear is silence. I can now hear the kids asking me for food. (Just kidding I could hear them before!)
Very happy with my purchase! I just hope that the new tower will last longer. But if not, it’ll be nice to have a new computer in the future.
Wow, that tower is way smaller! I just set up my new computer this week and I gotta say, I’m not so sure it was worth the money spent. That and it’s taking me forever to get use to Windows 7, I had been using Vista for a very long time.
Yeah the last tower was Vista. This one is Win 7. I really haven’t noticed too much of a difference yet. Hopefully your computer grows on you! You got a Dell right Cat? Dell owns Alienware which I didn’t know until I went to Best Buy!
My husband use to have an Alienware and loved it. It was pretty outdated, so he ended up building a new computer for gaming.
If I had patience, time, and no little kids I would build my own computer. One day I will, one day.
Tell me about it! It took him a couple of weeks total, since he ordered some parts from NewEgg (twice), and used some from his alienware.
Yeah that’s a lot of time! I didn’t want the old tower to die. Maybe I’ll start buying bits and pieces now and start building haha. Our tower 2 times ago I upgraded the video card all by myself. My husband was freaking I would break it.

Yes!! At least while I’m in jail I can look into the Alien’s eyes in the front. They glow blue haha.

Fast for now! I bet if I loaded in a lot of crap it would be bad. So I’m trying not too haha.

Congrats on the new computer. Never heard of this brand. I have a custom built tower so won’t be buying any new pc as much as I want to. Maybe look into another laptop. This is a small design, I do love that and the fact that it is more quiet is AWESOME!
