I am immensely pleased to be working with The Motherhood and Dr. Smith’s to review their amazing Diaper rash ointment. I will also be co-hosting a chat with the famous Heloise! Please join me on February 24th at 1pm EST. The link will tell you everything thing that you need to know.
My Dr. Smith’s Diaper Rash Ointment package came at just the right time! Landon is having a horrible time teething this time around, fever and just yuckiness. Well he’s developed a really horrible rash and Dr. Smith’s Diaper Rash Ointment is really helping me keep him comfortable. The poor guy, but I’m happy to have such a great product to use to help him, because it only took one use for the rash to go away!
The ointment has no unpleasant odor, and it goes on a cream but protects like an ointment. It’s super easy to apply and washing it off is a cinch as well. Dr. Smith’s has been around for 45 years! Now a company that has been around that long must be doing something right. Let’s me believe more in them.
I was also asked to share some tips on caring for your newborn! Which is pretty perfect for me since my future Sister In Law is pregnant with my brother and her’s first child. My niece or nephew! I am ultra excited! I figured it would be a nice way to impart some wisdom since I have 2 kids and have gone through the newborn stage already.
Breastfeeding Newborns:
You may not think that your baby is nursing. But he/she probably is! You can’t go by what it seems the baby is doing. Look at the output. Meaning wet and dirty diapers. If your baby is having those well than by golly the baby is nursing! Because if he/she wouldn’t, than they wouldn’t be urinating or pooping. I know I just had to relay this advice to my friend whom just has her second baby, but has been awhile since she nursed.
Sleep When Your Baby Sleeps:
I was already “fighting” with future SIL about this. In those early months, you just need to sleep when the baby sleeps. Her reasoning was that she wants to have me time while the baby sleeps. Well the baby will be sleeping often those first few months, so sleep with the baby sometimes, and other times do something for yourself. Heck Landon wouldn’t sleep unless he was on me, so I would take a book into bed and he would sleep against me but I would be having me time by reading. You have to improvise otherwise you may go insane.
Use a Sling or other Baby Carrier:
This has been such a life saver for me. Especially when Landon was a baby and I had to run around after Hunter while outside. I just carried Landon around. We even went grocery shopping while Landon was 3 days old and he just slept in the sling the whole time. He was close to mommy and happy, and I was happy that I was actually able to shop in peace. It was kind of like having me time, which is weird, but I didn’t have to take care of him. Also if you are trying to get stuff done around the house, but the baby doesn’t want to be put down, put the baby in the sling. That way they are happy and you are able to move around with both hands to clean or even play with your other child/children.
