A Letter To My Son Hunter

12 Flares 12 Flares ×

I am joining a monthly group of bloggers where we will write a letter to our sons. This way I have something I can look back on when he is grown, and he does too. I’ll be switching out every month on which son I choose. And as it’s just once a month it shouldn’t be that bad.

I will start off with Hunter my oldest. Who will be 6 in May.

Hunter

Dear Hunter,

I am very proud of you this month. You have under taken some new activities that I am glad you are enjoying! Defense class will allow you to expel some energy but have some fun at the same time. I will have to come and watch you one day so that I can see what it’s about, since your father usually takes you. Another thing is that you are learning how to swim! That way come summer you can be a fish on our vacations and at Aunt Diane’s house. So proud that you are going in the water without your floatie and trying it out! I know Landon is super sad that he can’t go too, but he’ll be going soon.

You can be such a sweetheart, though you do flip super quickly. One minute you are telling me that you love me and that I am “the best mommy you could ever have.” Then the next moment you are telling me I am rude and mean. I thought the teenage angst should have started when you became a teenager! Not so early.

I’m excited that I will get to spend a whole day of one on one time with you in 2 weeks. Too bad I had to bribe you to go by ourselves to Chuck E Cheeses this weekend just me and you to get you to go with me. It really made me upset that you didn’t want to go with me… and that you wanted to take Landon with us! So crazy!

You are a very sweet boy and I can’t wait to watch you grow in between this letter and the next one in 2 months.

Love,

Mommy

Hunter and Mommy

You can read the next Letters To My Son by another blogger. It’s a big circle where you will eventually end up back at me if you want too!

  5. I am a huge fan of this idea and did it with my own children. When I’m dead and gone…I like the fact that my voice will still live on through my words on paper.

Good job, Allison. I’m sure you are making Hunter proud.

  6. What a smile! He’s a cutie! When I was thinking of names it came down to Cody (his name is Dakota) or Hunter… so I love his name! :)

  14. Aaw this is a great idea, I sure didnt expect my son to start the teenage angst so early (he wil be 6 in April) either one day he will practically tackle me when he gets home from school and the next he will run right past me.

  15. Oh my gosh. I wish I had done this when my sons were young. They are grown now and I love them with all my heart. I look back at their pictures and our remember our times together and miss those times so much. I may try to go back and do something similar, catalog my memories of their growing up years, help keep the memories fresh.

  16. I love this. I don’t think you can tell your kids to much how you love an appreciate them. someitnmes I think they only hear our nagging to pick up their rooms. :) I like to put a note in my kids lunch boxes on days that they have a big test. Just to remind them that I know they will do great.

  17. Ha. I had to laugh when you mentioned bribing your kiddo as I do that same with mine – french fries are the bribe of choice in our house.

  20. I enjoy these, I’ve seen the other bloggers do it, I might do the same for my daughter but not blogging but on a diary. :)
